Whether sketching the anatomy of a live
model or the playful gesture of a lover, trans-
lating the visual to the physical is a process
that continues to amaze me. The journey of
sketching in charcoal, pencil or pastel is often
more powerful and intense than it would have
seemed at the onset. What emerges at the
end seems almost more beautiful because of
the simplicity of the medium.
